So, let’s get into it - here are our my 3.5 picks for the Power Platform Release Wave 2 of 2023!

CoPilot for formulas

Writing Power Fx formulas can be a daunting task, especially for those who are not familiar with coding. But with the introduction of CoPilot for formulas in the Power Platform Release Wave 2 of 2023, creating complex formulas just got a whole lot easier. CoPilot utilizes the power of AI to assist you in writing your formulas. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro developer, this feature is designed to save you time and make the process more efficient. Now I would say that I can write out a lot of formulas by hearth after building a few apps, but there are so many edge cases where you need a formula that you don’t use often, or just slightly tweak something. Using CoPilot, you can now write formulas using natural language or by providing examples. This functionality was previously available through Power Apps Ideas, but it has been updated and combined with CoPilot to provide a consistent and unified experience.

With CoPilot for formulas, you can rely on AI to suggest the right functions, syntax, and even complete entire sections of your formula. It’s like having a coding assistant right at your fingertips. So whether you’re working on a simple calculation or a complex business logic, CoPilot will help you navigate the world of formulas with ease. Get ready to boost your productivity and take your Power Platform experience to new heights with CoPilot for formulas. With CoPilot for formulas, you no longer need to spend hours searching for the right syntax or function to use. The AI-powered assistant will provide suggestions based on the context of your formula and help you build it step by step. It can even complete common patterns and repetitive tasks, saving you even more time and effort. You can read the full announcement at Write formulas from natural language or examples using Copilot. And if you are working with formulas you will also like the Experience improved named formula browsing in Power Apps Studio as that will greatly improve the experience of working with formulas.

Collaborate with commenting capabilities

In a typical work environment, team members are always on the lookout for an easy and effective way to collaborate, comment, and share notes and tasks while building websites. Until now, Power Pages makers have relied on external tools like emails and chats to achieve this level of collaboration. However, with the introduction of commenting capabilities to Power Pages in the Power Platform Release Wave 2 of 2023, a new means of collaboration has been unlocked for team members. The addition of commenting capabilities is expected to boost engagement and enhance productivity among fusion teams. Now, team members can collaborate seamlessly within the Power Platform, eliminating the need for switching between different tools and platforms. With the ability to leave comments directly within the Power Pages, team members can easily know who they are collaborating with in real-time, share feedback, and request reviews during the website development process. This new feature brings convenience and efficiency to the collaborative process. It allows team members to have a centralized location for communication, making it easier to track conversations and ensure that everyone is on the same page. With commenting capabilities, the Power Platform becomes a more cohesive and integrated workspace, fostering effective collaboration and ultimately resulting in better website development outcomes. Long running operations

Long running operations in the Power Platform Release Wave 2 of 2023 are a game-changer for flows that require more time to complete. This new feature enables you to create and execute flows that span longer than 30 days, without the need to divide them across multiple cloud flows. Before this update, if you had a complex automation that needed to run for an extended period, you had to break it down into smaller pieces and distribute it across different cloud flows. This feature simplifies the design and testing experience by allowing you to create and manage longer running flows in a single flow. You no longer have to worry about dividing your logic or dealing with multiple flows to achieve your desired outcome. This not only saves time and effort but also improves the overall efficiency of your automation process. With long running operations, you have more flexibility and control over your flows. Whether you’re running complex calculations, exporting large datasets, or performing any operation that takes longer than 30 days, this feature has got you covered. Say goodbye to the hassle of dividing and managing multiple flows and say hello to a more streamlined and seamless automation experience.
