Power Platform Release Wave 2 2024: New goodies!
The year is already halfway through, and time is moving quickly! Another year brings another set of updates ๐. Again a ton of updates, including some of AI ๐ค. As the last few years I try to do a write-up for the things I feel are the most important to keep an eye out for. Now all updates are created equal, but I took the ones that stand out the most to me.
Manage your source code for canvas apps
You view the underlying code to understand app functionality and integrate with source control, this will for sure help when preparing our session on Automating Naming Conventions for Power Apps. But it will also help in understanding how your app is built and how you can improve it. Imagine the opportunities of using AI and Github copilot to generate and review the code for you!
Experience enhanced file upload for Power Pages sites
Drag & drop, and camera integration are a must! With this latest update, you get both, streamlining the user experience significantly. The new drag & drop feature allows you to effortlessly move files into the system, while camera integration enables seamless photo and video capture directly within the Power Pages sites. So now you can make it a proper Progressive Web App experience .. Additionally, you can configure the upload to store data in SharePoint.
Get responses based on uploaded images
This update provides two interesting parts, file upload support in Copilots and the ability to get responses based on uploaded images. This is a great feature for scenarios where you want to analyze images and get responses based on the content of the image, or if you just want to handle your files with custom logic.
All in all another great set of improvements coming ๐! And I am sure to keep an eye out for the next few months of changes. If you want you can read them all here.
